The Remuh Jewish Library

The Remuh Jewish Library was founded in June 2005, and is the only public Jewish library in Krakow and in southern Poland. Since 2005 the Library has been growing mainly due to donations from various institutions and individual donors as well as financial support of foundations and nongovernmental organizations.

In June 2008 The Remuh Jewish Library changed its location. It is now located in the building of the Jewish Community Center at 24 Miodowa Street. Prior to that, the collection was located in the office of the Association naturally, this location prevented growth of the collection and the numbers of people who used the Library especially the elder members of the Krakow's Jewish community. Since the Library is now much more accessible and a few new volunteers have added their work to the development of the Library the collection as well as the number of library users has grown rapidly.

The Library collection consists of about 3.000 books, prayer books, magazines and movies. The Library was enriched by book donations received from: Temple Shir Tikvah of Winchester, Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Havurah, Women's Studies Research Center of Brandeis University, from the Jewish community of Melbourne, Australia.
